President Pranab Mukherjee prays at Puri Temple

On his second visit to Odisha since he has assumed charge as the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee paid rich tribute to Lord Jagannath at Puri Temple today amidst tight security arrangements. He prayed at the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

Upon his arrival at the Bhubaneswar Airport yesterday, he was received by Governor SC Jamir, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Lok Sabha MP Prasanna Patsani, Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and other dignitaries. Later, he took a special MI-6 chopper of the IAF to reach Talabania Helipad near Puri. He was welcomed by Puri District Collector Naba Kumar Nayak and SP Anup Kumar Sahu.

The President proceeded to the Raj Bhawan in Puri and was offered ‘Mahaprasad’ along with the plain lunch. Mr. Mukherjee visited the Puri Sea Beach and even took a glimpse of ‘Sand Art’ by Sudarshan Patnaik. The President visited Puri Temple today along with his family priest.

President Pranab Mukherjee will address the second convocation ceremony of the IIT, Bhubaneswar and the convocation of the Bharatiya Bidya Bhawan, Odisha later today. He will then return to Delhi in the evening.
