TNI Bureau: Widespread political violence has been reported across West Bengal in the last 48 hours, leading to at least 4 deaths and several injuries. Multiple properties and TMC offices set afire. According to media reports, 2 BJP and 2 TMC workers are among the dead. However, West Bengal DGP has confirmed only two deaths. Over 400 people have been arrested so far.

Despite the deployment of 70,000 central paramilitary forces across Bengal, there is no let up in violence. Firing has been reported at CRPF and Police at Sandeshkhali. The BJP workers ran a bulldozer at TMC office in Kolkata’s New Market area in police presence, leading to further escalation of violence.

The forces remained mute spectators at many places as suggested in the video footage. West Bengal DGP has warned the hooligans and goons to refrain from any violent act.
