Majumdar, aged 54, passed away on 25 January 2026 while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, after a prolonged battle with serious health complications including neurological and cardiac issues. His death marks an irreparable loss to the cultural and artistic landscape of Odisha and the broader regional film fraternity.
Born in Cuttack, Majumdar began his musical journey in the early 1990s and went on to compose and direct music for hundreds of songs in Odia and Sambalpuri films, albums, and independent projects. His soulful compositions and unforgettable melodies earned him immense respect and love from music lovers across generations.
The news of his passing has triggered an outpouring of condolences from political leaders, artists, and fans alike. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his grief:
