TNI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has shared a message highlighting the achievements and progress outlined in the Odisha Economic Survey 2025–26, stating that the state is moving forward with confidence into a golden era of development. He said the report reflects the determination and hard work of 4.5 crore people of Odisha and brings a message of pride and hope for all citizens.
Key Highlights of Odisha Economic Survey 2025–26:
Strong Economic Growth:
Odisha’s economy has grown at a rate of 7.9 percent, surpassing the national growth rate of 7.4 percent. The state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has reached ₹9.9 lakh crore, reflecting robust economic expansion.
Improvement in Household Prosperity:
The state’s per capita income has increased by 9.2 percent to ₹1,86,761, indicating that the benefits of development are reaching families across Odisha.
Support to Farmers and Agriculture Growth:
Odisha recorded a record food grain production of 150 lakh metric tonnes in 2024–25. The government has provided more than ₹28,000 crore through MSP and input subsidies to ensure fair compensation for farmers. The fisheries and livestock sectors have also strengthened the state’s agricultural economy.
Women Empowerment Initiatives:
Schemes such as Subhadra and Lakhpati Didi have empowered women economically. Currently, 16.42 lakh women have become Lakhpati Didis, and the female labour force participation rate has increased to 48.7 percent, reflecting greater economic inclusion.
Industrial Growth, Investment and Employment:
Odisha has emerged as a major industrial hub, with ₹5.66 lakh crore worth of new projects approved in the past year, creating employment opportunities for a large number of youth.
Focus on Education and Healthcare:
The state government has increased the School and Mass Education budget by 38.4 percent. Healthcare services are being strengthened through schemes like Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, ensuring better medical access for people.
Infrastructure and Sports Development:
Major steps have been taken to improve infrastructure, including new railway connectivity, expansion of port capacity, and improvements in civil aviation. Odisha continues to maintain its identity as the Sports Capital of India.
Strong Financial Management:
Despite rapid development, the state has maintained fiscal discipline, keeping its debt burden limited to 13.6 percent, reflecting sound financial management.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that this progress belongs to the people of Odisha and called upon everyone to work together to build a strong, prosperous, and developed state.
