Reacting to the shocking attack, Patnaik said the incident clearly shows that “anarchy is crossing all limits in Odisha” and questioned the direction in which the BJP government is taking the state.

He referred to the horrifying daylight assault where a group of miscreants allegedly attacked a young man in full public view with extreme brutality. The visuals of the incident, he said, have deeply disturbed and terrified people across Odisha.

LoP Naveen Patnaik expressed serious concern over the manner in which the victim was reportedly chased on the main road, repeatedly assaulted, and then an attempt was allegedly made to run him over with a vehicle in an open and brazen act of violence.

Calling the incident “heartbreaking and highly sensitive,” he questioned whether the rule of law still exists in Odisha.

“Because of the BJP government’s inaction and incompetence, criminals are moving around without fear. Ordinary people are living in fear and insecurity. The government has completely failed to ensure a safe environment for the public,” Patnaik stated.

He further said that people are gradually losing faith in Odisha’s governance system and asked how much worse the law and order situation must become before the government finally wakes up.

The statement has intensified the political debate over law and order in the state, with the opposition targeting the ruling BJP government over rising concerns of public safety and administrative failure.
