Naveen Patnaik meets Arun Jaitley with Wishlist

Naveen-PatnaikOdisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi today with a long wishlist. The CM sought Rs 500 crore assistance to deal with the situation aftermath Cyclone Hudhud. He also requested the Finance Minister to release the remaining Rs 399.88 crore Phailin assistance.

In addition, Naveen Patnaik sought rural banks in 4,597 villages and Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana in the naxal affected areas of the state. He also urged the Finance Minister to compensate Odisha for the loss due to reduction in central Sales tax (CST).

Naveen Patnaik is on a six-day visit to Delhi. He is expected to meet many other Union Ministers and may hold meetings with his party MPs. The arrest of three senior BJD leaders, including a sitting MP and sitting MLA in the chit fund scam, has rattled the BJD supremo even though he tries to put up a volt face, saying the law will take its own course. He has already suspended Pravat Tripathy, Ramachandra Hansda and Subarna Nayak from the party.
