Manohar Parrikar to be new Defence Minister?

Date:

imagePrime Minister Narendra Modi will expand his cabinet on November 9. It will be the first cabinet expansion since Modi government came into power in June 2014. According to reports, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar may become the new Defence Minister. Currently, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley holds the additional charge of this portfolio.

At least 7-10 Ministers may take the oath during the cabinet expansion, it is believed. Former Bihar Minister Giriraj Singh may be inducted into the cabinet. The BJP may induct some Ministers from Rajasthan, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.

Virendra Singh Mast from Uttar Pradesh and Col Sona Ram from Rajaathan are among the probables to become Ministers. Parrikar has already met BJP President Amit Shah today. He is slated to meet the PM later. The IITian is considered as an honest and transparent man in Indian politics. Thus, Modi has probably chosen him for the most crucial portfolio – Defence.
