Narendra Modi to visit Puri Jagannath Temple

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has set a date with Odisha. The BJP’s potential Prime Ministerial nominee will visit Puri Jagannath Temple on July 16 to seek the blessing of the deities. The visit will be a one-day affair and would be a private visit only.

Modi-JagannathNarendra Modi performs the ‘chhera panhara’ (sweeping of the Lord’s chariots) every year during ‘Rath Yatra’ in Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Rath Yatra is considered as the biggest chariot festival next to Puri Rath Yatra.

The world famous ‘Rath Yatra’ will be held on July 10. Since July 16 happens to be ‘Sankranti’, Modi has chosen to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath on that auspicious day. Modi may meet the BJP office-bearers during his visit, but it is not confirmed yet.
