Moquim Floats ‘Odisha Janata Congress’, Eyes New Political Space in State

Date:

TNI Bureau: Former Congress leader and ex-MLA Mohammed Moquim has announced the launch of a new regional political party, Odisha Janata Congress (OJC), signalling his attempt to carve out a fresh political space in the state. The party will be formally launched on April 8 at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.

Moquim said the new party aims to provide an alternative political platform focused on development, transparent governance and the concerns of ordinary people. According to him, the initiative is meant to strengthen grassroots politics and bring forward voices that often remain unheard in the existing political framework.

The move comes after Moquim’s expulsion from the Indian National Congress over alleged anti-party activities. Following his departure, he had indicated that he would soon announce a new regional outfit to pursue his political agenda.

Observers believe the emergence of the new party could influence the evolving political equations in Odisha, where politics has largely been dominated by the Biju Janata Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The launch event in Bhubaneswar is expected to draw supporters, political workers and leaders from different parts of the state, marking the beginning of Moquim’s new political journey.
