TNI Bureau: Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has been asked to appear for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) verification hearing in Kolkata, officials said.
Shami was summoned along with his brother, Mohammed Kaif, for a hearing scheduled on Monday at a school in the Jadavpur area. However, the fast bowler was unable to attend as he is currently in Rajkot, where he is representing Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Following his request to the Election Commission for a fresh date, the hearing has been rescheduled and will now be held between January 9 and 11, officials said.
Shami is registered as a voter in ward 93 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, which falls under the Rashbehari Assembly constituency.
According to an official from the office of the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer, the hearing was necessitated after the Enumeration Form submitted by Shami and his brother was found to have been filled incorrectly.
