Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk arrested after Statehood protest takes violent turn

TNI Bureau: Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent voice in Ladakh’s statehood movement, was taken into custody on Friday. Following his arrest, internet services have been suspended in Leh.

His arrest came two days after violent protests for Ladakh statehood and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution that resulted four deaths and 90 injuries.

Wangchuk was booked under the National Security Act for misleading people through provocative speeches.
