TNI Bureau: Indian shooting legend, Asian Games gold medallist and national coach Jaspal Rana passed away on Friday after a brief illness at the age of 49, leaving behind a remarkable legacy as one of the country’s most successful shooters and coaches.
A recipient of the Arjuna Award, Padma Shri and Dronacharya Award, Rana was one of India’s most decorated shooters, winning 15 Commonwealth Games medals, including nine golds, and multiple Asian Games medals during his illustrious career.
After retiring from competitive shooting, he became a renowned coach and played a key role in shaping the careers of several Indian shooters, including Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker. His death is being widely mourned across the Indian sporting fraternity.
