The Lowe PMG in front of Odisha Assembly turned into battle field after police resorted to lathicharge on thousands of home guards, who were protesting to meet their demands on Friday. More than 14 including police and home guards were injured and 46 protesters were arrested.

Police began lathicharge in the presence of DG, used water cannon and tear gas shells to disperse the protesters, who were marching towards the Assembly.

The protesters had threatened to gherao Assembly demanding hike in remuneration and to stop illegal retrenchment. Around 17,775 home guards had joined the protest and marched towards the assembly building.
