Drama over SC/ST Quota Bill in Lok Sabha, House adjourned

TNI Bureau: The drama over the SC/ST quota bill was witnessed in Lok Sabha with the Samajwadi Party members’ slogans against the bill. The bill might have been passed in the Rajya Sabha by huge majority, but Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after SP member Yashvir Singh snatched the quota bill from minister of state for personnel V Narayanasamy.

The SP members raised slogans like “promotion mein aarakshan, nahi chalega, nahi chalega (we do not want reservation in promotions)”. The House was earlier adjourned till 12 noon and again till 2 pm and then 3 pm after the SP created ruckus in the House against bill. Later, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.

The SP, JDU and Shiv Sena members tried to climb into the speaker’s podium, raising slogans against the bill.

Earlier in the House, the opposition had demanded justice for the gangrape victim seeking adequate protection to women.
