Rs 17 Crore NHAI Funds Misuse alleged in Balasore

Balasore: People of Balasore district alleged the irregularities in NHAI funds against a West Bengal based Road Construction Company, which had constructed a patch of 53 km of road from Naharpatna to Laxmannath on the National High Way 60 costing around Rs. 17 crore.

The construction work was reportedly provided to a private limited company through a tender of Rs 17 crore. But within a short span, the National Highway has been severely damaged, which further caused road accidents, alleged Anant Mallick, the Panchayat member of the area.

He further said that, though the company was provided with all facilities like slipped approach road, round the clock patrolling etc. during the construction, still it made a low quality road, which got wretched soon claiming several lives in the road accidents there. One can very well see it there, he strongly added.

However, the officials of the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) in Basta section have assured that remedial measures would soon be taken up on the allegations to patch up the road.
