Baripada: In a significant judgement, the Permanent Lok Adalat, Mayurbhanj has penalised three working doctors along with a nursing home doctor-owner for conducting faulty surgery on a female of Uthani Nuagaon village near Baripada. The doctors who were penalised have been identified as Dr. Anjan Sarangi, Gyaneoclogist, Dr. Shyam Sunder Khandelwal, Owner-Doctor of Durga Nursing home & Dr. Partha Sarathi Jena of Sarathi Clinic.
The above doctors conducted a faulty operation, which caused further mental and financial torture on the woman. Her husband has filed a case demanding a compensation of Rs 3 lakh in last April. Considering the gravity of the matter & after listening all sides, the PLA court under the Chairmanship of Justice Bira Kishore Biswal & non-judicial members Dr K.C.Mohanty & R.N.Behera, has pronounced a verdict ordering a compensation of Rs 60,000/ from these three doctors.
The court also slapped a penalty of Rs 30,000/ on Dr Sarangi, Rs 20,000/ on Durga Nursing Home & Rs 10,000/ on Dr. Jena. The residents of Baripada have welcomed the verdict.
