Cyclone Lehar to trigger Heavy Rains in Odisha

After Cyclone Helen, it’s the turn of Cyclone Lehar, which will play havoc off the Andhra Pradesh Coast on November 28. the impact will be big on Odisha too with heavy rains with a wind speed of 40-50 km/hour, will lash the Coastal and South Odisha.

Cyclone 17Although North Odisha may too witness rains, there is no fear of floods yet. The rains may continue in Odisha at least for 48 hours. The cyclonic storm, Lehar will cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machillipatnam and Kalingapatnam near Kakinada on November 28.

According to the Met department, rain and thundershower will occur at many places in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The weather conditions may not change till November 30 or December 1. The Odisha Government has asked 10 districts (7 in South Odisha and 3 in Coastal Odisha) to remain alert in order to deal with the situation.
