The Orissa High Court on Tuesday rejected the review petition over the demolition of illegal religious structure in the silver city Cuttack. The ruling was a huge jolt to the petitioners.

The local politicians had approached Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requesting to stop the demolition drive as it would hurt the religious sentiments of people.
Even the residents of Cuttack had observed a 12-hour bandh in the city protesting against the district administration’s move. Later, they filed a review petition urging the court to direct the authorities to demolish only the temples situated on road and those are creating traffic problems.
