The CBI submitted an affidavit on the coal scam status report in the Supreme Court as per the direction stating that the report was shared with the Prime Minister’s Office and Law Minister before submitting it to the apex court on March 8.
With the fresh affidavit and revelation, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Law Minister Ashwani Kumar will have to face heat from the opposition in the Parliament. The BJP has been demanding resignation of Kumar for allegedly seeing the report.
CBI director Ranjit Sinha filed two-page affidavit on the direction of the apex court today. The affidavit contradicts the claim made by CBI counsel, who argued that the report was not shared with any minister.
The affidavit says that the coal scam report prepared by the CBI was shared with law minister as per his request prior to its submission before the apex court. It was also shared with one joint secretary level officer each of Prime Minister’s office and ministry of coal.
CBI also revealed that the report was also shared with a joint secretary in the coal ministry.
