TNI Bureau: Naveen Patnaik, president of the Biju Janata Dal and Leader of the Opposition in the Odisha Assembly, has expressed concern over the plight of Odias stranded in the Middle East amid the ongoing conflict in the region.
In a message posted on social media platform X, Patnaik said many Odia workers are currently trapped in the war-affected areas of the Middle East and are facing severe uncertainty and hardship. He emphasised that in such a critical situation, it is the responsibility of the Odisha government to ensure their safe return to the state.
Patnaik criticised the state government for what he described as a lack of urgency in addressing the issue.
According to him, the absence of prompt action and visible efforts from the authorities is worsening the distress of the affected Odias and their families. He questioned why the government has remained silent despite the seriousness of the situation.
The BJD leader urged the state government to immediately take necessary steps, coordinate with the Central government, and make arrangements to bring the stranded Odias back safely. He also appealed for swift administrative action so that those stuck in the conflict zone can return home without further delay.
The issue has triggered concern among families in Odisha who are worried about the safety of their relatives working abroad, particularly in regions currently facing escalating tensions. Patnaik’s statement adds pressure on the government to act quickly and ensure the safe evacuation of Odia citizens caught in the conflict.
