Putting all speculations into rest, the State Election Commission has announced the poll date for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), which will be held on January 8. After sweeping the ULB polls across the state, the BJD is confident of repeating its spectacular performance in Bhubaneswar too.

EVM1The Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect after the BMC poll dates were announced. Nomination forms will be available from December 16 till December 20. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on December 23 and the provisional list will be published on December 24.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by December 26. The final list of contesting candidates will be published on the same day by 5 PM. The elections will be held on January 8, while the counting and declaration of the results will take place on December 9.

Election for the Mayor’s post will be held on January 17, while the Deputy Mayor will be elected on February 5, 2014. The Model Code of Conduct will be applicable to the entire limits of BMC from the date of notification issued by the SEC and shall remain in force till the completion of counting, i.e. from December 6, 2013 till January 9, 2014.
