TNI Bureau: The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has initiated formal discussions on nominations for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, with State President Manmohan Samal confirming that the party’s Core Committee has deliberated on potential candidates.
Speaking to media, Samal stated that detailed discussions were held regarding who should be nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Odisha. He clarified that members of the Core Committee will propose suitable names, which will then be forwarded to the BJP’s Parliamentary Committee for final consideration.
“The Core Committee members will propose names for who will be sent to the Rajya Sabha. Those names will be sent to the BJP Parliamentary Committee,” Samal said. He further added that the final decision on whether the nominees will be from Odisha or from outside the state will rest with the Parliamentary Committee at the national level.
Apart from the Rajya Sabha nominations, the meeting also saw discussions on appointments to various Board and Corporation positions in the state. These appointments are seen as crucial for strengthening organizational coordination and governance.
According to party sources, clarity on the Rajya Sabha candidates is expected within the next five days. The announcement is likely to set the tone for the BJP’s broader political strategy in Odisha in the coming months.
