Raising the issue in the House, members of the Biju Janata Dal expressed outrage, asserting that the comments were not only factually incorrect but also deeply disrespectful to the legacy of one of Odisha’s most revered figures. The MPs demanded that the remarks be withdrawn and called for accountability from the BJP leader.

BJD MP Dr. Sasmit Patra roared in the House, saying how Nishikant Dubey dared to call Late Biju Babu a CIA Agent.

The BJD MPs emphasized that Biju Patnaik’s contributions—as a freedom fighter, former Chief Minister, and a leader of national and international stature, cannot be undermined for political purposes.

After registering their protest inside the House, the BJD MPs staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha, marking a strong symbolic stand against what they described as an insult to the people of Odisha.

BJD leaders maintained that the issue goes beyond politics and touches upon the sentiments and pride of millions of Odias. They reiterated that any attempt to defame Biju Patnaik would be firmly opposed both inside and outside Parliament.

The episode has added to the growing political tensions between the BJD and BJP, with the legacy of Biju Patnaik once again becoming a focal point in the broader political discourse.
