BJD Issues Whip; Asks MLAs to Camp in Bhubaneswar for Rajya Sabha Polls

TNI Bureau: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has tightened its ranks ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, issuing a mandatory “Three-Line Whip” to all its legislators. In a formal notice dated March 11, 2026, Pramila Mallik, Chief Whip of the Opposition, directed all BJD MLAs to remain at the headquarters in Bhubaneswar from March 13 to March 16 unfailingly.

The directive comes in preparation for the high-stakes voting scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, held within the Odisha Legislative Assembly premises between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

By restricting movement and demanding strict compliance, the party leadership aims to ensure maximum attendance and prevent any cross-voting or procedural lapses. The “Three-Line Whip” is the strongest form of party discipline, signaling that any deviation from the directive could result in serious disciplinary action.
