TNI Bureau: Odia youth Siddhant Mishra, who was stranded in Bahrain for 11 days amid a tense situation, returned to India on Wednesday. After reaching Bengaluru airport, he expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and senior officials of his company KPMG.
Siddhant Mishra, a software engineer from Biraharekrushnapur village in Puri district, had been staying in a hotel about one kilometre away from the US air base in the Juffair area of Bahrain. On the 28th, Iran attacked the air base in response to Israel and the United States, creating panic in the area.
During the tense situation, Mishra had to change three hotels and spent four days in fear and uncertainty. Due to the closure of airspace, returning to India was initially difficult.
Later, following the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and efforts of the Ministry of External Affairs, along with the support of the Bahrain and Saudi governments, they received a Saudi transit visa.
They travelled by road from Sanabis to Dammam airport, flew from Dammam to Jeddah and then boarded a flight to Bengaluru. On Wednesday at 10:45 am, Siddhant and his three companions finally reached India.
Recalling the hardship of the past 11 days, Mishra became emotional and said they could return to their homeland because of the support and blessings of everyone.
