TNI Bureau: The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Nuapada, Rohit Bhoi, was allegedly assaulted inside the block office today following a dispute over the construction of a Panchayat building.

According to Sources, the incident was triggered by opposition to the construction of the Bhaisatal Panchayat building, which was being carried out in Baloda as per an order of the Orissa High Court. A group of people reportedly entered the BDO’s office, argued with him, and physically attacked him during the altercation.

After the incident, Bhoi lodged a complaint at the local police station. A police team, including the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), reached the spot to assess the situation. One of the main accused has been arrested, and a search is underway for others involved.

Following the attack, block employees staged a dharna and observed a pen-down strike, demanding strict action against the culprits and better security for government officials.
