Self-styled godman Asaram will have to stay in jail till September 30, as the Rajasthan High Court has deferred his bail plea hearing till October 1. The HC order came as a big shocker for Asaram, who has hired eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani to lead his legal team.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged against Ram Jethmalani with the National Commission for Women (NCW) for his remarks that the complainant girl “was afflicted with a chronic disease, which draws a woman to a man,” and that “this was subject to police investigation.” The FIR was lodged by Uttar Pradesh-based IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.
Asaram has been in Jodhpur Jail on the complaint of a minor girl, who has alleged that the godman had sexually assaulted her inside a room at his Jodhpur Ashram on August 15. The FIR was lodged in Delhi on August 20, while Asaram was arrested in Indore in the midnight of August 31.
