Akshay Kumar to inaugurate 43rd Edition of IFFI

TNI Bureau: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will inaugurate the 43rd International Film Festival of India, scheduled to be held next month in Goa. Sources said that he has given his nod for the 11-day festival, which will be attended by big faces of the film industry.

The Festival kicks start on November 20, 2012. Sources say that the IFFI may not take place indoor this time as there is chance of it to move to an outdoor location full of picturesque natural resources.

The festival will have a special showcase on the 100 years of cinema and movies from various sections like International Competition, Cinema of the World, Foreign Retrospectives, Tributes, Country Focus, Indian Panorama and Indian Retrospectives & Tributes, Animation & 3D cinema and Film Bazaar will be part of the event.

This year IFFI is expected to be attended by over 2,500 people including the regular 1,000 invitees, who were traditionally invited every year and Goa government would be spending around Rs.9 crore for the event as per reports.

A special ‘Centenary Award’ comprising a Silver Peacock, Certificate and cash prize of Rs 10, 00,000 and the Jury awards will be presented on the eve of the festival which recognizes the best creativity in the cinematic sphere. Name of the recipients of these awards will be announced on the closing ceremony.
