Ajit Pawar condemned for “Urine” Remarks

Date:

People in Maharashtra and across the country wonder today why a reckless politician like Ajit Pawar is still shamelessly holding to the post of Deputy Chief Minister after making a mockery of the worst-ever drought situation in the state. An apology is not enough. It’s time for Ajit Pawar to step down and repent.

Ajit Pawar shocked the nation when he asked what he would do to release the water in dams when there is none. “Should I urinate? Even to do that, you need to drink enough water, which is not available”, he said. After his remark triggered a national outrage, Ajit Pawar was quick to apologise, saying it was not meant for the drought-hit people in Maharashtra. But, the damage was done.

The Opposition BJP and Shiv Sena are not letting this opportunity go to nail the ruling Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra. They are gunning for Pawar’s head and have decided to launch agitations elsewhere in the state.

It can be recalled that Ajit Pawar held the Irrigation portfolio for long. He had resign last year following allegations of massive irregularities in irrigation projects, but had to be reinstated later after putting pressure on the Congress Party using his clout within the NCP.
