Bhubaneswar, Feb 16: The 36th National Teams Open Chess Championship was held in Bhubaneswar at KIIT campus from 8th Feb to 14th Feb, 2016. 35 Teams in Men’s section and 12 Teams in Women’s section from all over India have participated in the event.
AAI bagged the 2nd position with 15 match points after the Railways who won with 16 points. AAI team was led by Mr. G.A. Stany, Mr. M. Shyam Sundar, Mr. VAV Rajesh and Mr. Visakh. The Team Manager was Sh. Harekrushna Nanda, Manager (Finance), AAI, Bhubaneswar. Airport Director Sh. Sharad Kumar congratulated the team for their excellent performance and assured the continuous support from AAI for the promotion of sports in India to groom & support natural talent of our sports person as a corporate policy.
