TNI Bureau: A one-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) bootcamp for tribal girls was organised in Sundargarh district by the World Woman Foundation in collaboration with the Samara Oram Educational Trust. The initiative aims to expand access to emerging technology education among underserved communities.
Held at the Samara Oram Educational Centre in Kendudihi, the pilot programme trained 150 tribal girls through hands-on sessions, mentorship and exposure to real-world AI applications. The training focused on building foundational digital skills and preparing participants for future employment opportunities.
Addressing a press conference after the event, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram praised the initiative, stating that such efforts would help create a self-reliant, skilled and empowered tribal society. He emphasised that access to emerging technologies is essential for inclusive development and ensuring no community is left behind in India’s digital transformation.
Founder and CEO of the World Woman Foundation, Rupa Dash, said the programme reflects the belief that while talent is universal, access is not. She noted that the initiative aims to bridge this gap by equipping indigenous girls with AI skills and opportunities.
Dash further announced that the pilot project is part of a larger vision to empower one million tribal women and girls with AI skills, enabling them to access future job opportunities and contribute to inclusive growth.
The programme received support from Automation Anywhere, Smt. Anu and Naveen Jain Family, and the World Woman Fund.
