Academic Session begins at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited academic session of AIIMS Bhubaneswar officially began functioning at Sijua on Friday. However, the construction work for the hospital and medical college is underway.

The classes for the first batch of MBBS course in the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose AIIMS started with 50 seats, out of which 18 are Odia students. A total of 38 boys and 12 girls have enrolled into the Bachelor course in Medicine and Surgery this year.

Initially, the classes will be run by 20 faculties members. They will teach the subjects like anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, community medicine and family medicine.

The AIIMS at Bhubaneswar was a dream project for the people of Odisha, which has now become functional. Professor A K Mahapatra, who has been appointed as the Director of the AIIMS in Bhubaneswar, said that the construction work will be completed soon.
