Rayagada Gangrape Victim’s Family gets Rs 10 Lakh

TNI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has given a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Rayagada (Anjiapetta) gangrape victim. The cheque worth Rs 10 lakh was handed over to the victim’s sister (12) at the DRDA Conference Hall in Rayagada yesterday by District Collector Sashibhushan Padhi.

Since the victim’s sister is a minor, she cannot withdraw the money for the next six years. The interest from that amount will be deposited into the victim’s grandmother’s pass book, which will be opened shortly. That money will be spent on the education and other expenses of the victim’s sister and grandmother.

Meanwhile, the Rayagada Police have filed a 262-page chargesheet at the SDJM Court in Rayagada yesterday. The accused were identified as Munna Chhatria, Pradeep Bhatra, Bharat Khosla, Mallick Khosla. The chargesheet contains the names of 56 witnesses, including many policemen and common people.
