Lok Adalat orders Compensation to Octogenarian

Baripada: The Mayurbhanj Permanent Lok Adalat (PLA), headed by Justice Birakishore Biswal has directed the Morada BDO to clear old age pension to one Sri Harihara Nanda, 85 at the rate of Rs 500/ – a month after the later filed a petition before it.

Nanda, a resident of Palashmundli panchayat under Morada block is an Octogenarian and was given pension at the rate of Rs 300/ a month despite his several requests that the government has enhanced it for 80+ people at the rate of Rs 500/ a month, which was not approved by the block officials for unknown reasons.

The Lok Adalat also directed it to clear up an arrear of Rs 5900/ alongwith enhanced rate of pension with retrospective effect. The people here have reposed high faith in Lok Adalat for its quick action and landmark orders.
