Rourkela: To make Rourkela a Centre of excellence in the field of sports and groom talented sporting stars, Rourkela Steel Plant has launched a Sports Festival. Named as ‘Rourkela Steel Plant Sports Festival’, the event got off to a splendid start on 16th January with G.S.Prasad, CEO, RSP unfurling the Sports Flag and releasing balloons in the air.

The CEO also took salute at a march past presented by the participating teams. The students took a pledge to make the event a success and participate with sportsman spirit. It is noteworthy that 969 students from as many as 28 different schools are participating in the four-daylong event.

Addressing the gathering Prasad said, “while winning is important, participation is even more important.” He praised the students for their enthusiastic response to the sporting event. He also congratulated the Sports section for its novel initiative.

The participants will be competing in five different events namely Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling and Chess.
