Govt slashes CDMA Auction Base Price

Date:

TNI Bureau: After the “flop show” in November, the government learned from its mistakes and slashed the base price for CDMA spectrum auction by 50 per cent. It was approved by the Union Cabinet today.

The 50 percent cut in base price will take effect for CDMA airwaves in the 800 Mhz band. There was not a single bidder for this band when the auction was held in November 2012. Telecom companies have cited high reserve price for their lack of interest.

The base price was Rs 18,000 crore for 5 Mhz of CDMA spectrum. Now, it would be Rs 9,000 crore.
