Pre-paid Auto Service to begin in Bhubaneswar

Date:

TNI Bureau: In a significant development, Odisha government has decided to introduce pre-paid auto rickshaw service in Bhubaneswar bringing a huge cheer for the commuters, who have been facing problems on daily basis.

The pre-paid auto service would be available up to the railway station and Biju Patnaik Airport. After Cuttack, the serve would be introduced in the state capital. The proposal would be discussed at a meeting scheduled to be held on Monday. If the proposal gets a nod, it would be a huge relief for the commuters, have been complaining against auto drivers charging arbitrary fares. At times, the auto drivers used to charge more money from the passengers or they misbehave with them if they oppose to pay them more.

The twin city commissioner of police said that the pre-paid auto service is providing smooth service in Cuttack. It could do well in Bhubaneswar, expected. However, the authorities would hold discussions with auto-rickshaw unions in the city prior to the introduction of the service.

The government expects that the public transport system would be effective for the passengers and the security of the passengers would be maintained as the pre-paid ticket will bear the details about the driver. In case, if the passengers get misbehaved by the driver, can file complaint against the auto owner or driver.

Like city busses, the transport department will introduce a uniform rate for auto service after discussing with the auto associations.
