The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is working with Minstry of Urban Development for enabling preparation of large scale GIS database using satellite data for 500 towns under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

These 500 towns include 100 towns under Smart city Programme announced by the Government of India.
