IIA’s 9th Design Carnival concludes in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: With a huge success of 3-day event focused on the theme “Urban Rejuvenation”, The Indian Institute of Architects, Odisha chapter has wind-up its 9th annual event “Design Carnival” and Building material expo 2016, on Sunday at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.
The event witnessed a large congregated of Architects planners, thinkers, and policymakers across the country with focusing on the theme “Urban Rejuvenation” under one roof. Reputed building material companies displayed their innovative & latest building material products & it was immensely helped the public for their building solution. Several competitions between the students of Architecture of seven different colleges of the state i.e. Design competition, sketching, face painting, seminars was also organized. The cultural programme with ramp show was also organized for entertaining the public, in which large no of students from different colleges were participated.
A brain storming session is also organized with technical seminars by renowned architect, Ar. Prakash Deshmukh on the theme “Urban Rejuvenation”. A live presentation by the participated sponsors- JINDAL STEEL, HINDWARE, GREENLAM, OCL AND PGL GROUP was also over there in the event. A serious discussion on the theme “Urban Rejuvenation” was also held in the panel discuusion, where Ar. Prakash Deshmukh, Chairman IIA, Prof. S. S. Ray, Dirctor of Architect Deptt of KIIT, Er. Umesh Pattanaik, President Afford, Ar. Sagarendra Mohapatra, Chairman IIA Odisha Chapter, Ar. S.k. Mishra, Ar. Nischit Nanda, Ar. Ramesh Swin were presented.
Ar. Pritam Dey was awarded as ‘Swarastra Dasyoung Architect of the year’, Ar. Debi Prasad Sahoo was awarded as ‘Srikant Paikray Arhitect of the year’, Ar. Md Anwar was awarded as ‘Otto Koensberger life time achivement’ in the ceremony. All the stalls awarded in the event and with that a prize ceremony was organized to felicitate the participated students for the competition.
The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the National body of Architects in the country, founded in the year 1917 headquartered at Mumbai. The institute today has more than 30000 members. IIA plays major a role by uniting Architects of India to promote aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the profession both in Practice and in Education.
