Grand Road in Puri to have New PA System and Illumination

A MOU has been signed between Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri, CESU and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to install Public Address (PA) system and illumination across the Grand Road (Bada Danda) in Puri. Both sides of Grand Road will have sound system too.

Grand Road PuriThe NTPC has agreed to fund Rs 2.51 crore from their CSR budget for the installation of 32 number of 16m High Mast lighting towers along with 192 LED light fittings. In addition, it will be install 32 high performance speakers and 27 horn loaded speakers on both sides of the Grand Road.

It has been decided that CESU will execute this project on behalf of NTPC. With this the Grand Road, Puri will have better lighting with very low energy consumption (thereby conserving energy and saving energy charges for Puri Municipality).

Besides, the public address-cum-sound system is intended to share information about the temple rituals as well as to play devotional music for the devotees/tourists. CESU has agreed to execute the project as early as possible preferably before the coming Car Festival. The energy charges will be donpatoe by Puri Municipality.

To this effect, a MoU was signed between SJTA, NTPC and CESU today on Saturday, 7th December, 2013 in presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha in the State Secretariat, Bhubaneswar. Hon’ble Minister, Law, Hon’ble Minister, Housing & UD, Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner and Commissioner-Cum-Secretary, Energy were present during signing of the MOU.
