Amit Kumar wins Silver at World Wrestling Championship

The 19-year-old Amit Kumar, who carried the Indian hopes after Olympics Silver medalist Sushil Kumar pulled out because of an injury, made the country proud, by winning a Silver medal at the World Wrestling Championship.

Amit-KumarIn 2010, Sushil Kumar had won a gold medal at the World Wrestling Championship. In the final, Amit lost to Iranian Rahimi Hassan Farma 1-2 in a close bout. It can be recalled that Amit had beaten Rahimi in the 55kg category at the London Olympics 2012.

Earlier, Amit had beaten Japanese Yasuhiro Inaba 10-2 after a first-round bye. In the next round, he defeated Zoheir El Ouarrage of France 8-0. In the Quarterfinal, he scored a 6-0 win over Agelo Alesmo Escobedo of USA. In the semifinal, Amit defeated Sezar Akgul of Turkey 8-0.
