TNI Bureau: Odisha is celebrating a landmark achievement as Bhubaneswar’s Jyotirmayee Nayak has been crowned the winner of Indian Idol Season 16, becoming the first Odia contestant to lift the coveted trophy in the history of the popular singing reality show.

The 24-year-old singer captivated audiences and judges throughout the season with her powerful vocals, versatility and emotional performances. In the grand finale, she outshone fellow finalists, including runner-up Tanishk Shukla, to emerge as the champion after a journey spanning nearly ten months. Along with the prestigious trophy, she received a cash prize of ₹20 lakh.

Already a well-known name in the Odia music industry, Jyotirmayee has recorded over a thousand Odia songs and is also recognised for her work as a music therapist, using music to support cancer patients. Her inspiring journey from Odisha’s regional music scene to India’s biggest singing stage has won admiration across the country.
