TNI Bureau: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi has voiced deep concern over the ongoing student protests in New Delhi, urging the government to address the issue with empathy rather than force. In a post on X, he described it as “painful” to see young students from across the country spending days on the streets, protesting against concerns over the examination system.
Dr. Joshi acknowledged that the students’ anxieties are genuine and deserve a lasting solution through dialogue and understanding. He cautioned against treating the protests merely as a law-and-order problem, warning that the use of force would only aggravate the situation.
Expressing particular anguish over reports of young women protesters being “brutally mishandled,” he said such scenes are deeply distressing and inconsistent with democratic values. His remarks come amid widespread criticism over the handling of the demonstrations.
Significantly, Dr. Joshi linked the government’s response to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat. He warned that excessive force against students could alienate large sections of Indian society from this national goal. His intervention underscores that building a developed India requires not only economic progress but also trust, dialogue, and respect for the aspirations of the country’s youth.
