Moitra had reached Palashi in Kaliganj to attend a TMC meeting at Ahmed’s residence when a group of protesters gathered outside, raising “go back” and “chor” slogans. She alleged that the protesters hurled eggs and tomatoes at her in the presence of security personnel and claimed they were BJP workers.

Sharing videos of the incident on social media, the Krishnanagar MP accused the BJP of orchestrating the protest. In another video shared by her, several people carrying BJP flags and chanting “Jai Shri Ram” were seen among the crowd that allegedly pelted eggs at her.

Moitra also accused the West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) of failing to act despite repeated pleas and phone calls. She alleged that neither the police nor the CRPF took timely action to prevent the attack and claimed that the law-and-order situation in West Bengal had deteriorated.

Police officials, however, said security personnel later intervened and dispersed the protesters.

The incident comes weeks after a similar protest on June 13, when BJP Mahila Morcha workers allegedly attempted to hurl eggs at Moitra outside the Krishnanagar district court, where she had appeared in connection with a case.

Following that incident, Moitra had said she would initiate legal action against those involved and approach higher courts if necessary.
