TNI Bureau: In a shocking development tonight, unidentified assailants shot dead top West Bengal BJP Leader Suvendu Adhikari’s PA Chandranath Rath, in Madhyamgram in 24 Parganas. Chandranath, Suvendu’s Chartered Accountant and a former IAF personnel, was shot in point blank range while he was moving in his car. He was later rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Chandranath was shot in the chest, head and leg. At least four rounds of shots were fired at him. His driver too suffered bullet injuries and remains critical, sources said.

It can be noted that he was Suvendui Adhikari’s Bhabanipur poll in-charge where Mamata Banerjee suffered the shock defeat. Suvendu was not with him during the time of the incident.

The DG CRPF has rushed the spot. High alert has been issued across West Bengal. Suvendu Adhikari is now reaching the place. The main question remains who leaked Chandranath’s locations to the killers and how they could execute their plan so meticulously despite strong security presence.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has condemned the brutal killing of Chandranath Rath and sought strongest possible action against the guilty. TMC also sought a court-monitored CBI probe into the incident.
