Mumbai Indians’ hopes of making it to the top of the points table in IPL 6 were dashed, as they lost to Kings XI Punjab by 50 runs. Chennai finished on the top on better net run rate, even as both teams secured 22 points each from 16 matches.

Punjab posted 183/8 in 20 overs. Azhar Mahmood was the top scorer with 80, while Shaun Marsh scored 63. Mohan Vohra remained unbeaten on 20. Malinga took three wickets.

Chasing a victory target of 184, Mumbai Indians bowled out for 133 in 19.1 overs. Tare (22), Rayudu (26), Rohit Sharma (25) and Pollard (22) were the top contributors. Azhar Mahmood, Sandeep Sharma and Piyush Chawla took two wickets each. Azhar Mahmood was declared ‘Man of the Match’.

It was a special moment for Adam Gilchrist, as he ended up with a win in his last IPL match. He bowled the last over of the match and even claimed the wicket of Harbhajan Singh.
