TNI Bureau: Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar has registered its highest-ever passenger traffic in 2025, marking a major milestone in the airport’s growth.
Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan said that around 5.15 million passengers travelled through the airport during the year, the highest annual figure since the airport began operations. He noted that such a volume of passenger movement has never been recorded at the Bhubaneswar airport before.
Driven by the sharp rise in air traffic, the airport has climbed to the 13th position nationally in terms of total passenger movement, reflecting a significant improvement over previous years.
At the national level, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport continues to top the list, handling nearly 70 million passengers annually.
Currently, Biju Patnaik International Airport operates flights to 28 destinations, strengthening connectivity and making air travel more accessible for passengers across Odisha. The steady expansion of its route network and growing passenger numbers highlight Bhubaneswar’s emergence as a key aviation hub in eastern India.
