6 Infants die at Govt Hospital on Independence Day

TNI Bureau: Tension prevailed at the SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati after six infants died on Independence Day. Parents alleged their babies died due to the hospital negligence.

The unconfirmed reports put the death toll at 11. The media reports suggest that many doctors were absent due to holiday – Independence Day.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has ordered a probe into the death of the infants.

While parents of the victims alleged non-availability of senior doctors, negligence and lack of adequate medical infrastructure, the hospital authorities said that the infants were admitted in a critical condition.

The deaths reported three weeks after 3 infants died due to inadequate oxygen supply.
