Vigilance Unearths Huge Assets during Raids on R&B Executive Engineer in Kalahandi

TNI Bureau: Odisha Vigilance unearthed huge movable and immovable assets during simultaneous searches at properties linked to Bhubaneswar Sabar, Executive Engineer of the R&B Sub-Division, Dharamgarh, who is also holding additional charge of the R&B Division, Bhawanipatna.

The raids were conducted at six locations in Kalahandi district over allegations that Sabar possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to Vigilance officials, the searches have so far led to the detection of four multi-storeyed buildings, 33 land plots spread across 39.64 acres, a farmhouse spread over nine acres, and a market complex with eight cabins.

Among the major assets unearthed are a double-storeyed house at Gosanimunda in Bhawanipatna town, two under-construction buildings at Moter Chhak in Koksara, another residential building at Kusumkhunti in Koksara, and a market complex at Moter Chhak. A farmhouse spread across nine acres at Kitpadar near Bhawanipatna was also detected.

Vigilance officials said several plots of land were found in different areas of Kalahandi district, including Kitpadar, Dwarsuni, Talabelagaon, Kutenpadar and Moter in Koksara. Measurement and valuation of the properties are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing.

Officials also detected a Hyundai Creta vehicle, while bank deposits, postal savings and other financial investments linked to Sabar and his family members are being verified.

According to Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Sabar joined government service as a Junior Engineer in the R&B Department on July 1, 1999, with an initial salary of Rs 6,000. Over the years, he served in different R&B divisions in Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi districts before being promoted to the rank of Executive Engineer in March 2024.

Search operations were continuing till the filing of this report.
