TNI Bureau: A huge row has broken out after the PTI quoted MoS in the PMO, V Narayanasamy, who reportedly said that the government is contemplating ways to make the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) a multi-member body.

Although Narayanasamy tried to undo the damage, saying he was misquoted, the PTI stood by its report. The BJP has slammed the government, accusing it of trying to undermine the authority of Constitutional bodies in India.
Narayanasamy reportedly backed former CAG VK Shunglu’s recommendations about converting the CAG a multi-member body. The Congress-led UPA Government has been at loggerheads with CAG Vinod Rai for his reports on 2G and Coalgate.
